What you’ll be doing as a System Administrator – Windows and VMware Engineer

Working in a small team, implement and support virtualization and Windows server solutions for the SMB market in Northern Philadelphia.

Operate as a “virtual CIO” and work with clients to advance their technology, take on projects and migrations and reduce their total cost of technology ownership while maintaining a competitive edge. Lastly, you’ll provide on-site administration and remote support and help design Windows and VMware virtualized environments (server and VDI) for new clients by leading a team to install the equipment/hardware and servers.

This is a full-time position with benefits, matching 401(k) and Certification reimbursement. This also comes with a company car and/or work from home options for well-qualified candidates after the first 6 months of employment.

The daily life of the Systems Administrator will consist of close support work with a variety of small business and organization IT environments. You’ll gain a deep knowledge of small enterprise IT, everything from networking to systems, and on up to security and cloud. Our clients are utilizing these technologies and you will be right in the thick of things. Whether troubleshooting missing email or verifying the feasibility of a disaster recovery plan, you will see and touch the things that matter for your own and our client’s growth.

What should you be bringing to the table? Besides a smile and true grit, you’ll need:

– 3+ years of Microsoft Server Support. We think Linux is cool too, but most of our clients are using Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or 2016. And don’t forget about Exchange and Office 365 experience.

– 3+ years of Hyper-V, Citrix, and or VMware experience – Experience with clustering, high-availability, and VSphere are the order of the day here. You already know what a LUN is, and have some experience with SANs too.

– 3 to 6 years of Windows Desktop Support. Mac experience is also helpful, as is mobile device support. To be relevant, this needs to be commercial level IT Support of a business environment. This won’t be your primary responsibility, but you should know your way around for the occasional escalation ticket.

– 3+ years of Cisco/Sonicwall experience. You don’t need to be a routing expert, but you should understand the difference between WEP and WPA. Terms like VPN and LAN should be a part of your vocabulary. You should understand VLAN tagging, an
