Senior Network Engineer – Managed Services Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve network issues, from minor to major.
- Set up network components like firewalls, switches, access points, and assist with hardware installations such as monitors and printers.
- Install firmware and software updates based on client specifications.
- Keep all documentation up to date, including changes and new processes, and create guides for the team.
- Maintain and update backups of client network configurations before any system changes.
- Verify system functionality by entering commands and observing responses.
- Address client inquiries, diagnose hardware/software issues, and provide instructions on equipment and applications.
- Recommend and implement solutions or corrective actions to meet business goals.
- Replace faulty software and network equipment.
- Assist with renewing warranties and support for firewalls and networking equipment.
- Act as a senior technical resource and escalation point for the support team.
- Implement fixes to reduce helpdesk tickets for network issues.
Senior Network Engineer – Managed Services Experience:
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Project Engineer within an MSP or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, ICMP, and routing protocols (BGP and OSPF)
- Complete start to finish deployments of business and enterprise grade firewalls. Fortinet is preferred. Cisco, Sophos, SonicWall, or other major firewall vendors are acceptable.
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting firewalls in HA configurations.
- Experience with Network Access Control & Software Defined Networks.
- Expert level knowledge in routing and switching, L2/L3 packet network services, internet and LAN design and understanding network architectures.
- Complete start to finish deployments of managed switches. Fortinet is preferred. Enterprise or business class equipment such as HP, Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent are acceptable.
- Strong understanding of DNS and DNS related configuration.
- Strong understanding of email related DNS and email security related configuration (DMARC and subcomponents).
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting firewalls in HA configurations.
- Experience with VoIP, voice technologies, and phone systems – network design, implementation and support.
- Experience working in organizations of 25 – 50 employees preferred
