IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider

We are currently looking to bring on a highly motivated IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider. The ideal IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider will be consulting with clients to land on the best solutions, and then managing the project to completion – budgets, timelines, etc.. The IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider daily duties will consist of acting as a liaison between the engineering team and clients. The IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider will make sure that clients are receiving great support in a timely manner by effectively scheduling engineers to work on client issues. You are the person who makes sure the “trains run on time,” along with working to streamline processes and make things as efficient as possible. You will see the business from both the technical and admin side, and gain a deeper understanding of how all the parts of an IT Service company come together in service of the client.

IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider Day to day / Responsibilities:

  • Meet with sales and client success team to understand project scope, estimates, and goals.
  • Scrutinize project constraints to analyze alternatives, mitigate risks, and conduct process re-engineering, as necessary.
  • Attend all project meetings internally and with client
  • Completing projects on schedule
  • Staying in scope and interfacing with client and internal teams when scope changes
  • Regular and clear communication with the client on progress and upcoming milestones
  • Provide, accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of all technical client project plans
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Keep Accurate notes and time tracking
  • Explain to the techs the project, timeline and expectations
  • Working with the project proposal and scope, create tickets in ConnectWise and assign tech’s and resources
  • Work with the client on setting expectations for our deliverables
  • Create a client-facing timeline to be emailed weekly with updates to the client
  • Internally, work with our logistics person on ETA for hardware and licensing for the project
  • Working with outside 3rdparty vendors as needed to coordinate delivery of their gear, set up configuration, what is needed from IT – communicate back to client

    2. ISP – version, cogent, etc.
    3. Audio Visual
    4. Physical Security – door access
    5. Electrician
    6. Furniture
    7. General Contractor
    8. Architect
    9. Phones – hosted VoIP or premise
    10. Access Point / hanging
  • Be available for the client on any questions throughout project and delivery
  • Be available for onsite meetings as needed with 3rdparty vendors / clients
  • Coordinate training for client on our gear, technology and 3rdparty companies
  • Creating and delivering a Post Project Write up / set up a call with the client
  • Check in with techs periodically during project and onboarding stage with our internal departments
  • QC work
  • Close project, let our accounting team know for billing
  • Prepare and email Project hand-off Reports

IT Project Manager – Managed Service Provider Prerequisites

  • Again, more organizational experience in project planning and coordination is key, technical knowledge is still needed, but will not be a hands-on technical role
  • 5-7 years’ experience
