IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services)

Due to consistent growth, we are currently seeking an IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services) with a background in the MSP industry. This is a full-time, permanent position that is primarily WFH with the occasional need to come into our Chicago office.
The IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services) will focus on Networking (primary) and Cloud (secondary) solutions. The IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services) is at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure solutions for our clients.
IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services) Responsibilities:
- Be the go-to person for network support agreements.
- Design and deploy network infrastructures (OSI Layers 1-3 and beyond).
- Install, manage, and troubleshoot network equipment and devices (SonicWall, HP/Cisco, etc.).
- Maintain backup and recovery procedures for network systems.
- Provide advanced support and professional services for cloud-based solutions like Microsoft 365, Intune, and Azure.
IT Senior Project Engineer (Managed Services) Networking Requirements:
- The ideal candidate should be comfortable administering, supporting, and troubleshooting networks and systems in a Microsoft-centric environment, with knowledge including:
• High competence and understanding of Layer 2 and 3 network traffic, including VLAN, switching fundamentals, Routing, and NAT
• Experience in SonicWall deployment, management and troubleshooting of their TZ and NSA lines of firewalls
• Experience in wireless network deployment, management, and troubleshooting of Enterprise wireless products, Cisco/HP Aruba
• Experience in deployment, management and troubleshooting HP or Cisco switches
• IPv4 knowledge, TCP/IP fundamentals – TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SIP, RTP, etc.
• Networking security fundamentals – Proxies, ACL, IPsec, VPN, SSL/TLS, etc.
• Diagnoses and correlates complex problems, identifies root causes, and develops remediation strategies
• Firewalls (site-to-site VPN tunnels)
• Network switches
• Wireless Access Points & Controllers

- Microsoft 365
• Microsoft Intune
• SharePoint/OneDrive
• Microsoft Teams
• Microsoft Azure
• Azure Entra ID
• Azure – expert level NOT expected but Networking aspects such as Site to Site Tunnels, Firewall appliances, etc
• Server Operating Systems
o Active Directory
o Network Policy Server (NPS) \ Radius
o Distributed File Systems (DFS)
