Tier 2.5 Systems Engineer – IT Service Management – Ashburn, VA

We are a rapidly expanding IT service management firm located in Ashburn, VA, seeking a Tier 2.5 Systems Engineer to join our dedicated team. About the Role:
As a Tier 2.5 Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of client network systems. Your responsibilities will include designing, installing, supporting, and maintaining systems and related technologies, adhering to industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, support, and maintain client network and computing infrastructure.
  • Administer servers and virtual server clusters.
  • Configure and manage network hardware, systems, services, and devices.
  • Implement performance-enhancing changes to network architectures.
  • Monitor and maintain network security systems and technologies.
  • Administer software and network security protocols.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, email systems, and threat management.
  • Oversee system backup and restore protocols.
  • Document network issues and resolutions for future reference.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for hardware, networks, and systems.
  • Provide on-site client support and travel to client sites as needed.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call support rotation and weekend project work.
  • Address support extension and remote tickets promptly and effectively.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in network administration, design, and execution.
  • 1-2 years of IT management-related experience.
  • Proven success in a client-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Apple OS, HP/Aruba, Cisco Systems, SonicWall.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, cabling, firewalls, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, VPN, Terminal Services, VoIP, QoS.
  • Familiarity with web development; experience with Azure and AWS is a plus.
  • Proficiency in VMWare virtualization and Active Directory.
  • Understanding of in-house systems architecture and cloud-based architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate timekeeping skills.

Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 per year
